Description

This course focuses on the post-1945 political histories of the countries of Southeast Asia. It examines the wars in Indochina, internal armed conflicts, the communist parties of the region during the Cold War, and the difficulties in building democratic states. The latter part of the course considers the role of China and recent strategies for economic growth in the region.
