Laura Ishiguro awarded Killam Teaching Prize
Congratulations to Prof. Laura Ishiguro for winning the University’s Killam Teaching Prize for 2017-18. The prize recognizes Prof. Ishiguro’s dedicated and innovative teaching, curriculum development, and mentorship of student scholars both inside and outside of the classroom. Prof. Ishiguro was instrumental in transforming the Canadian history survey into a team-taught course, focused on “moments that matter” in Canadian history. Outside the classroom, she led and mentored several students in a project of digitizing, transcribing, and analyzing letters and other documents from the BC Goldrush era. Through her teaching and mentorship, Prof. Ishiguro has helped to transform students of history into practicing historians.
