The History Department at the University of British Columbia offers a complete range of degree programs including a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts with Honours; a Master of Arts; and a Doctor of Philosophy.

The department trains students in the fundamentals of historical thinking and offers a wide variety of courses -- in the histories of Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa -- dedicated to helping students develop broad perspectives on both the past and the present. We also have strong links, both formal and informal, to many other disciplines and research units in the university, including Arts One, Science Studies, Foundations, Canadian Studies, 19th Century Studies, Critical Studies in Sexuality, Latin American Studies, Medieval Studies, the departments of Geography, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science and Fine Arts, and Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies.
